Why Football4Moms?

Several years ago when two of my three sons were playing grade school football, I decided to write a book to explain the game to mothers. Most moms know something about a lot of sports, and many moms have played a sport or two, but football has remained a male dominated sport, and thus, when our little 5th graders decide they want to play, we are left a bit in the dark. I felt this way to some extent, but over the years, with a great deal of patience from my sons and my husband, I really learned a lot about the game. So I wrote “Football for Moms” (check out My Book!)

My concept of “Football4Moms” continues to grow! The strategy and game play of a typical football game is not unlike the job of motherhood. We are the quarterback of the family. (Sorry dads – you are important but not the quarterback.) Yes, we moms are the quarterbacks of the family, huddling everyone up each day, issuing the game plan and peering over the group to see what might possibly stop the momentum.  Mostly we are on offense – moving the family forward throughout each day toward the ultimate goal – bedtime!  On and on it goes, each day, each task, swiftly and ideally without any hiccup. But we all know better – the defense is always in place to rattle the plan and come right after the QB. Naturally, we mothers are almost always untouchable, but it does happen.

Then…
We are on defense. Two kids with the flu, one third grade teacher who would like to meet with both mom and dad, and a dead battery in the minivan. We maneuver through these problems carefully, eye on one thing – to get the ball back.

Football4Moms is a place for my fellow moms to take an occasional time out, re-group, and know we are all in this game together.
